how i ended up doing an egyptian wedding.
It’s veggies.
No, really. I met Koen several years back at a party we were both not really supposed to be at. His midnight snack consisted of one intact cucumber. He offered me half by breaking it in two. Anyone who knows me might understand we clicked instantly.
Yes, and -
The story of how he met Hana is just as, if not even more, random and coincidental.
Their love covers a distance from Belgium to Egypt. Last May, they tied the knot in Cairo.
Knowing Koen for some time, I’m not sure if I was entirely surprised when he asked me to join him in travelling to Egypt for the first time in 2024. I also don’t think he expected me to say yes.
Fast forward to 2026 - we’re celebrating not only their marriage, but the effort, love and distance coverage it takes to do it.
It’s quite unusual to be involved in people’s story in this way. As a professional, you don’t always get the whole backstory. That’s why this set hits home for me, too. Getting to travel for work is great, seeing loved ones happy is priceless.
I don’t want people to believe that K&H found me because of great marketing, SEO or some magazine coverage. They specifically asked me to exist in their space & celebrate as a friend.
And honestly, it’s might be my favourite way of working. I believe in personal approaches & building bonds with whoever I get to work with.
Behind this set there’s two of the most hospitable families I’ve ever met. There is time, patience, trust and lots (!!) of sugared tea. Here’s to a story as unique as H&K. A celebration of endless good talks, cultural epiphanies and absurdist humour. Hana & Koen for ever!
